Central Missouri Agriculture Club

To Support, Promote, and Recruit Agriculture and Youth in Central Missouri

Farm Tour

The Central Missouri Agriculture Club Committee, University of Missouri Extension, and the Cole Camp Steam and Antique Tractor Club have partnered together to introduce a bit of agriculture and its history to some of the youth of Central Missouri area. The Youth Tour promotes the understanding of the importance that agriculture plays in everyone's life.  Each September youth from around Central Missouri have the opportunity to travel to Cole Camp, Missouri and observe historic farm machinery at work. The youth learn how farm work was done years ago from demonstrations such as:

  • how molasses is made from sorghum
  • how to press apples to make apple cider
  • how to harvest wheat using a thrashing machine
  • the importance of wheat in our daily diet
  • how straw was gathered and square baled
  • plowing and  planting crops
  • cutting trees for lumber by an operational antique saw mill
  • working cattle dog
  • blacksmithing

The  youth are able to sample the apple cider, taste the sweetness of the sorghum and  treated to a hayride. Lunch is provided by the Central Missouri Agriculture Club Committee.
